Unique Powder 45 Acp. Out of my thureon defense 16″ carbine my reloads go right through it. Same ballistics and reliability as the other load but significantly cheaper.
I see in their reloading data only recommendations for 230 gr. I use some other powders as well, but i could get along with only this one pistol powder. As an aside i am also looking for.38 spl.
Military And Produced Similar Performance To Military.45 Colt (Left) Loads.
Unique is an extremely versatile powder and you could easily keep one powder measure set to throw only one charge — 5 grains of unique — and cover a large range of shooting possibilities. Military in 1873, along with the colt single action army revolver. Fmj at 1.250 oal = old school military ball round.
Bullseye Under A 230 Gr.
The idea was to give the thompson a greater range and hitting power. Lead round nose at 1.250 oal. We made several thousand.45 acp fmj rounds with 5.5 gr of unique prior to switching to 231, only for the fraction of a cent saved per powder throw.
Use With Most Hulls, Primers And Wads.

I also have a 454309 wadcutter mold, but that's more for the revolver than the 1911, so i'm not really asking about that (but over 5.4gr of unique it shoots poa out of my blackhawk). Cooper also used 7.2gr under a 215gr swc version of the #68. I see in their reloading data only recommendations for 230 gr.
Can I Use That Data As A Starting Point For 230 Gr.
Lee book lists one and only one load, 5.0grs. I built a bullet stop in my backyard using 6, 4″x4″ and 5/4 lumber on both sides filled with dirt. Actually it was 7.5 gr unique with the 200 gr swc.
