You really shouldnt use 30/40vol with bleach. Mix one part bleach and two parts developer, whether it is 40 or 10. 40 volume is occasionally used to lighten very dark, stubborn hair as part of the bleaching process.

Hair Bleach Powder And Developer Ratio. There is a variable mixing ratio of the products here; But if you’re going very, very light from dark hair, 40 volume may be the best choice.
The recommended bleach to developer ratio is 1 part bleach to 2 parts developer.this will give you a fairly runny mix which will be easy and quick to apply. If you’re going up two shades, grab the 20 and so on. Luckily, you don’t need 40 volume for most situations.
